I am 6 weeks pregnant and I have to get all the routine blood tests today. One of them is an HIV/AIDS test. I have never in my life been so terrified. The thought of it is making me loose sleep. I am a very healthy 25 year old woman and my husband is as well. I had sex with my first 7 years ago a few times, with a condom and then my husband. Thats all. We go to the doctor yearly for physicals and get blood drawn and are always healthy with no problems. Would a doctor be able to tell by regular blood tests if there was something wrong like AIDS/HIV. I know they dont test for it unless if you ask but could the results trigger the dr. to ask for more tests. And would I have symptoms by now 7 years later? I am probably being a paranoid mother to be but I am truly very scared. Any input would help. I want this baby more than anything and want it to be healthy and have healthy parents with no problems. :-/
