What type of massage would be best after running a half marathon?
My girlfriend has signed up for a half marathon on her birthday, and I am going to get her a massage for after she is done. What kind would be best to help with lactic acid build up, as well as just overall feeling. Thanks

Many of the bigger events offer free massages after the event itself. A deep tissue sports massage would be best. Or if there are any joint or muscles problems (like a minor strain), you could get her an appointment with a ART Chiropractor, which should also be able to do a general recovery massage.

I’m not sure what the best type is for after running a marathon but I have gotten a Therapeutic massage and let me tell you it was great. The masseuse got my legs as well and I felt fresh and rejuvenated after.
Massage will not help lactic acid build up, and her soreness is not due to lactic acid.
Distance running does not cause lactic acid in your muscles.
The soreness is due to the muscle cells, which are damaged and stick together.
Any basic massage will help, and if you can find someone to do sports massage they will do her the most good.
A good massage therapists knows how to massage pre and post event to help the athlete, so look at some resumes and if possible check references, or where they have been working and for how long.
