What skin-cleansing products work best for "light" African-American women?
I am a 24 year old "light skinned" African American woman, and I am looking for products to cleanse my face without drying it out. I am trying to obtain the "baby’s bottom" skin. I don’t want to break my pockets on products, but whatever works I would be willing to try. Any suggestions?

Skin color does matter. Black people can’t use some Pantene products…they have to get the one in the brown bottle. I understand you, I’m a light skinned African American woman too. I find that Ambi works really good (the soap and the facial lotion combined). It also fades dark spots. Also, try Cetaphil soap combined with Oil of Olay Active Hydrating Beauty Fluid. Personally, Ambi is my choice.
skin colour has nothing to do with cleansing your skin. You saying it in the first place is just ignorant enough.
According to my guru, the person who runs the website http://www.romancing-the-soap.com, the best cleanser is soap and water. Started taking her advice. She’s absolutely right. You can ask her questions. Use the Contact Me form on her site. Her newsletter is full of great info. and often contain recipes for skin health. There are pages on her site that tell you so much about how to get the skin of your dreams without breaking the bank. I’m sold on

I am a light skinned African American and I think I understand where you’re getting at by mentioning your skin color, but I think you need to place more emphasis on what type of skin you have. African Americans tend to have thicker skin than say someone of European descent, but also everyone has different types of genes regardless of their race or skin color. Is your skin combination, oily or dry? Lavender oil usually works on most skin types, so we can begin with that. I believe exfoliation is important about 2 to 3 times a week, what I usually use on my skin which is combination of the lavender oil mixed with a carrier oil, such as olive oil, sesame, virgin coconut oil or apricot oil depending on your skin type. If yours is dry, I would use olive oil, if your’e prone to breaking out, I would use either the virgin coconut oil, sesame or apricot oil. You can also exfoliate by taking the carrier oil, sea salt and add the lavender oil to it. I like raw(unrefined) shea butter for the skin also. It is good for cell regeneration. To wash your face, I like Dr.Bronners castille soap, you can get all this from the health food store. You should always steam your face by getting a bowl of hot water and putting some herbs such as chamomile which is soothing to the skin, and place a towel over your head. This will open your pores and cleanse the toxins from your skin. This usually works for me, but i do not know what would work for you. I hope you give it a try. I always have people complement me on how beautiful my skin is, but I also try to eat right too.
