Medications are usually prescribed depending on your individual symptoms. Aside from the above, people with CFS might take stronger painkillers such as percocet or vicodin, or even just advil etc. Low-dose naltrexone, anti-virals such as Valcyte, and sleeping medications can be used. Most people with CFS are on one or more sleeping medications. There are also supplements and herbs that are often used, like melatonin, Omega 3, CoQ10, cal/mag, vitamin B & D....lots more. I'd say over the years people have tried just about every medication available for CFS, since nothing seems to work very well. If you have other conditions like thyroid problems or hypertension its important to take meds for those too. Unfortunately, meds for CFS are trial and error, and most people have a lot of trouble convincing their GPs to try a lot of them. I wish you luck!

Lyrica.

Although, Lyrica is approved and intended to treat fibromyalgia, some doctors have prescribed it for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, with some successful results.

Cymbalta.

Cymbalta is another approved and intended to treat fibromyalgia and depression, but has also shown some successful results in treating CFS.

Best person to ask is always a "psychopharmacologist." A pharmacist that specializes in neurological/psychiatric medications.

Best wishes to you!

Hi there:

While not yet approved by the FDA for daytime sleepiness/chronic fatigue, stimulant drugs such as Adderall, Ritalin, Concerta, etc., commonly used in treating Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, can be used in treating chronic fatigue as an off label use. Adderall is FDA approved for Narcolepsy as well.
