His heart valves are not blocked, his coronary arteries, the blood vessels that deliver blood to the heart muscle itself are blocked….I would ask his heart specialist for recommendations for treatment. No medicine or dietary changes will make these blockages go away, only possibly prevent worsening and help his heart function despite this problem.
From what I have been told ~ you dont say how old he is ~ My mother in law is 80 ~ she has two blockages ~ they wont touch them ~ no angioplasty ~ or stents ~ They fear that a piece of plaque could fall off I guess ~ causing heart failure ~ this is what I was told ~ Im not a doctor ~ Too chancy to operate ~
Essential Fatty Avids/Omega 3/fish oil. Same thing, but different names.
Also, the herbs ginko biloba & cayenne both increase circulation.
Adding fiber to the diet lowers heart risks.
its a coronary blockage…. treatment should be surgery … or else, bye bye dad… percutaneous coronary translumin angioplasty…. to prevent from further blockage resulting in myocardial infarction
The best treatment would be either percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) or coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG). There is debate as to which is better but PTCA is much less invasive. However, it should be noted that CABG may have better long-term survival rates as well as better overall vessel patency rates (e.g. the vessels stay open better after CABG than with PTCA – or at least that is what is currently being debated). Either way, with his symptomology, surgery is perhaps the best option. Although, there are medications he can take which may decrease the severity some of his symptoms i.e. beta blockers.
