How do you know there are flea larvae? Have you seen fleas or flea dirt? I doubt that you would be able to see the flea larvae without a microscope. Fleas breed in rugs and bedding. Is that where you are seeing the larvae? Advantage is the safest, most effective flea treatment. It can be purchased from a vet or online (or from pet supply stores) without a prescription. It is safe to use on kittens. Avoid other over the counter flea treatments because they can be dangerous for your cat as well as being ineffective at killing fleas. (Hartz and Zodiac are examples). The most common signs of flea infestation are scratching and flea dirt, which may look like ground black pepper and turns red when it gets wet. Tapeworms are a side-effect of flea infestation. Cats get tapeworms from ingesting fleas while grooming.

you need to get Frontline Plus. It is the best I have tried on my cats. It not only kills fleas, it also kills tics and lice. Advantage does not do all this. Petco carries it. Take care!

frontline plus for cats or advantage, some states allow you to buy it without a vets script. others are over the counter at pet store, please do not use a flea collar. BTW how do you think the larvae got there?

Frontline works really well on my cats. I get it from my vet. I'm not sure if you can buy it at the store or not.

Funny you should ask. Our 3 mos kitten we think, came to us as a stray with flea eggs 10 weeks ago. We had to wait 3 mos before we could treat him. They really got bad these last 3 weeks. I called a vet yesterday and was told to go and get from him Top Spot, I see its made by Frontline. It cost me $21 for one tube. No appointment necessary. I am thinking I can probably get the next treatment cheaper online somewhere, this is just to start him off with one month.

He then told me to bomb the house. He said any defogger would work, so I went to Walmart today and got Hartz Ultraguard Flea and Tick Home Defogger. Reading the box here, it says it kills larvae. They come two in a box for like $5 and some change. I was just going to vacuum everything now and bomb tomorrow.

When we return 2 hours later tomorrow, I can put the Top Spot on him and hopefully, he won't be so uncomfortable from scratching. Wish me luck. And good luck to you!

You can get a pill from your vet called Capstar and it gets rid of all the fleas that are on her now. But be sure and put her in the bathroom or outside, if you let her out, so that the fleas do not fall off in your house. Then put frontline on her as that works pretty well, but the capstar will get rid of the fleas that are on her right now
