No. It most certainly is not.
Store are not licensed to sell the modern chemicals that are both appropriate and safe for use as flea control. Any flea product you buy in a pet store is going to contain a very general, cheap insecticide that cannot be expected to work.
Veterinary flea treatments are the only ones worth bothering with. It’s not that they’re stronger, it’s just that they’re different chemicals – useful ones. Get hold of Frontline, Revolution, or Advantage. If you pup is under 8 weeks old, it will have to be the spray version of Frontline, which can be used from 2 days of age. That’s the other thing about pet store products – you won’t find anything that can be used on animals under 12 weeks of age. There’s a good reason for that; they shouldn’t even be used on adult animals!

If you are having problems with fleas, your vet is your best source. Especially important if it is a very young pup, as these ARE poisons you are dealing with. Tiny amounts of poison, but poison nevertheless.
One thing you can try is to bathe the pup with Dawn dish soap. This should not be used on a regular basis however as it is harsh on the skin and coat.
There is a pill called Capstar available from vet and vet supplies which will kill every flea on a dog or cat within 24 hours, however that is all the longer it works.
For an infestation you need to clean thoroughly to vacuum up all the eggs, also wash the bedding and dry in a HOT dryer.
Be aware that fleas also carry tapewprms, so your vet will probably want to treat the pup for thoseaswell.
We use Frontline on our dogs and do not have a flea problem, and yes, this is an area where many do.

Flea med is flea med. Yes, they are just as good and usually a little cheaper!!
Frontline is the best flea and tic protection you can get. It is worth the trip to the vet!! It will also get rid of any fleas you may have within 24 hours!! I’ve used it on kittens and on large greyhounds with complete succes.
Flea medication is not the same. Ask your vet if your puppy can take Revolution. This also takes care of heart worms and ear mites. Find out more about this stuff and you’ll see that your vet can explain the differences.
Bio Spot, I used it on both of my dogs and it worked great. My Vet told me that it really just depends on the breed of the dog. So if that don’t work I would try Frontline or Advantix.
i use something called revolution from my vets. it isnt greasy like advantage and it fights fleas, ear mites, tick heartworm and a few other things. and unlike advantage, your dog can get into the water 2 hours after it is applied. i believe with advantage u have to wait 2 days
i dont think so and u shldn’t get anything not proved safe for your pet. it think the best way would be to check out with ur regular vet. if you dont have one, i can recommand you mine (:
