What is considered too high of a fever in a 6 month old?
Her temperature is 102 degrees, rectally. I gave her a little bit of tylenol to see if that will bring it down some, I am planning on taking her to doctor, but the office does not open for another 1 1/2 hours. I could not remember what is a really high fever rectally though, because i know that is normally a tad higher than doing the ear.

a high temperature is classed anything over 100, more info in the link below, hope she’s better soon.
Either way, 102 can be dangerous and is very high for a 6 month old. Make sure she has access to cool, fresh air. Try encouraging her to drink cold water and place a cool cloth on her fore head if the tylenol doesn’t work right away. Take her temp every 15 min at least. And make sure she isn’t too worked up or upset- no use in aggravating the fever.
Hope this helps. :/
According to my kid’s pediatrician’s office, anything over 105 (6 months plus) requires the child to be seen immediatly. Also a fever under 105 that has lasted for at least 3 days or does not come down with Tylenol requires a trip. Jana has had fevers of 103-104.5 and I’ve been really freaked out, but it always turned out to be just a virus that cleared within a week.
