If you have chronic HBP with a strong family background of HBP you will likely be considered high risk. Some of the complications will be pre-eclampsia, toxemia, low birth weight, premature delivery via section, protein in your urine that affects your kidneys etc. I have HBP, my daughter was born @ 33 weeks weighing very little and having all these symptoms. I am expecting my second and because of my past history, I have 5 doctors watching over me including an internist, endocrnologist, a high risk pregnancy specialist, obgyn and my family doctor. They are hoping to get
Me further along than my previous 33 weeks and to keep my BP on control. It is tough but could be managed. Congrats and good luck.
You are more at risk for preeclampsia, it can also damage your kidneys and other organs, it can cause low birth weight and preterm labor. But the risj and the effects depends on how severe your high blood pressure was, if you have other risk factors, and if you had it under control before getting pregnant.

W/your condition is doesn’t necessarily mean you will be high risk … you will have to see what you ob/gyn finds out/recommends.
