What are some some home remedies for post nasal drip?
The drip is not chronic but has been persistent over the last 2 or 3 days and has quite possibly caused a throat infection (there is pain there). I do not want to go to a physician. What are some home remedies to stop the drip?

Avoid spicy food and dairy/milk products, turn on your humidifier, drink lots of fluids, especially herbal teas, like chamomile tea or green tea with honey. If you have a sore throat you can try gargling salt water. You may have a cold, but I don’t think post nasal drip or a sore throat is a symptom of the flu. I get symptoms like that when I have the cold, or less frequently, when I have a throat or sinus infection. Hopefully it’s not a throat or sinus infection because if it is, you probably will have to go to the doctor and get antibiotics. I used to get a runny nose and a dry/scratchy/sore throat when I used humidifiers less frequently. Now I use them all the time and the cold dry air doesn’t bother my nose/throat as much.
Tylenol or ibuprofen regularly for the sore throat and an over the counter decongestant for the nasal drip. You can also use saline nose washes to clear the sinuses also – there are kits at the drugstore. If the sore throat gets worse and worse, you need to get a strep test done to see if any antibiotics are needed. Running a humidifier in the bedroom where you sleep will also help.
Try using your hair dryer and breathe it in as hot as you can through your nose. It will dry up your drip and help with any infection without a trip to the store.
