This is an embarrassing question, but I have really bad constipation a lot of the time. My parents have been telling me for years to eat right, but I didn’t listen because I didn’t like healthy foods and it didn’t really bother me, but as I’ve gotten older it’s gradually gotten more and more painful. What should I do? My mom is willing to get me medicine for it. We already got Phillips stool softeners but they don’t work much. It really hurts and I don’t think I can handle it anymore, so I’m willing to do whatever I have to to make it stop. Please don’t make fun of me, I know this is a question lots of people would love to make fun of, but I’m hoping a nice nurse or someone will answer. Thank you for your time and for helping me.

"Mild cases can be treated with warm baths, stool softeners and fiber supplements."
I have a mild case as said by my doctor. However, the cream he gave me isn’t really working so, on average, how long would it take for hemorrhoids to go away if I use a stool softener?

I have painful internal hemorrhoids from having a baby 18 days ago. I’ve been taking stool softeners for 2 weeks and am beginning to wonder if they’re going to go away on their own or if I’m going to have to go into the doctor’s office. Does anyone have experience with this?

My toddler daughter went through a horrible period of time when she was only able to go to the bathroom while on laxative and stool softeners. We’ve finally weaned her to go on her own after almost a year but this weekend experienced a minor setback. I read on several sites that introducing prebiotics and probiotics will help aid digestion and keep her from getting constipated.
Can someone please direct me to a site, or name a few foods that contain prebiotics and probiotics. I am willing to special order foods if I have to, but I first need to know where to find them.
Thanks in advance!
