I am a type 2 diabetic, its non obesity related. I haven’t been able to check my sugar in ages, and ive been chugging water a lot lately. I have health insurance but even with it I still cannot afford testing strips. I have a freestyle lite glucose meter if that helps. Thanks.

How do we go about this without drastically increasing out health insurance costs?
Of course we all need to practice healthier lifestyle habits, but fiscally how do we improve our nation? Should we adobt other nation’s practices? if so, whose?
How do we improve health care across america and lower the costs to the citizens who utilize that care?

We are losing my wife’s health insurance and are going to be taking out a private health insurance policy. I am self-employed and think I can deduct the premiums from my taxable income.
Does anyone know if that is the case? I would appreciate anyone who could point me in the right direction.

I was hit in April by an uninsured motorist; he totalled both our cars. I have since seen 8 doctors to diagnose several issues caused by the accident. I’ve undergone xrays, physical therapy, ultrasounds, blood tests and an MRI, and am now on medication and more phys therapy.
I had k in uninsured motorist medical coverage, which my ridiculous claim adjuster told me last week ran out over a month ago – I’m now getting bills I can’t afford, and I’m not yet well. A friend said I can demand more $ from my insurance company? But he also said Colorado requires insurance companies to cover all med bills, and I’ve found no such statement on the CO govt sites.
My regular health insurance won’t cover these bills – what do I do?
Was also told attornies won’t take my case: the kid who hit me is likely illegal, has been unresponsive. One lawyer said even if I won the case, wouldn’t necessary get $ out of it. Last thing I need are lawyer bills.

My dad was employed at his job for about 30 years and had a good union with great heath benefits (health insurance and drug prescription medicine benefits). My mom is really sick and takes about 6 different prescriptions a month which are really expensive. Since my dad had benefits from his job had only had to pay a co-pay for the drugs. Now he retired and his job does not have retiree benefits. Is there any affordable way for my dad to get the drugs my mom need? She is already on medicare plan b but does not qualify for the prescription medicine part D. Any ideas?

I went to the emergency room for symptoms suggesting a life-threatening illness. It turned out I did not have a life-threatening illness and the ER doctor diagnosed something much less severe. However, now my health insurance company is refusing to pay for the emergency room fee based on that diagnosis.
This seems unethical to me. My symptoms indicated an emergency, so I went to the hospital. Just because it turned out I didn’t actually have a condition requiring emergency medical attention, doesn’t mean my health insurance company has the right to deny me coverage.

I’m not really sure how this works. After you’ve met the deductible in a health insurance policy, do you continue to make co-payments, or does it switch to co-insurances? Or does it depend on the plan?
I’m talking about emergency room visits and routine doctor appointments – generally insurance plans allow coverage before the deductible is met.

I am planning on substitute teaching which doesn’t offer health insurance. What is the best way to go about getting health insurance for just me?

We would not have any kind health insurance to cover any thing that would arise.
The work we will be doing will be strictly volunteer.

I already have health insurance. I have "Cover Florida Plan II" through Blue Cross Blue Shield. Will I just keep paying for my insurance like nothing happened? I am happy with my insurance and I don’t plan on changing it, unless I have to for some reason.

I get worried about my girlfriend because she doesn’t have health insurance. I am insured through my job, what are her options? Is there something she can sign up for? If she has health issues I want to know that she will be able to afford any necessary medical treatment. Thanks.

If there’s no mandate, and insurance companies are forced to give me affordable health care regardless of preexisting conditions, that means I only have to get health insurance when I come down with cancer. I hear many Republicans stating that they are all for barring insurance companies from excluding those with preexisting conditions, but none of them explain how you can do so without a national mandate to buy health insurance like we have with auto insurance.

My doctor told me to bring my health insurance and co-pay. I have my little insurance card, but what else do I need?
