My greyhound raced in Arizona but has live in BC with us for 5 almost 6 years. She has always had minor coughing and lameness due to what we thought was arthritis. In November of 2006 she was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma (bone cancer). OS tends to take dogs quickly and we opted for pain management only but now 9 months later she has a large tumor in her right leg and is sometimes completely lame and other times looks fine and runs full speed. She eats well and most of the time is a happy dog.
Someone has suggested this could be Valley Fever but is it possible almost 6 years later? Vets up here do not know of Vallet fever so i am trying to do research before bringing this possibility to them.

What is the best flea control and tick treatment for dogs?
We are having a hard time getting rid of fleas, we are doing flea baths and drops BUT still cant get rid of the pesky critters. We are using frontline.
Ive heard of a tablet/capsule that works as a repellent, can anybody shed light on this. What the compound is generic brands etc. Also we are spraying the outside area too but perhaps the product we are using isn’t strong enough. Can anybody suggest the best and most economical way to rid the problem?
Thanks in advance.

I received a letter from my vet earlier today saying my dog needs her rabies and other vaccinations. My dogs always had her vaccinations annually around the same time, and recently when she was spayed in March she had a full set with her rabies.
I’m not sure if that’s a mistaken letter, or if for some reason she’d be due for something I’m not aware of.

I have come to the conclusion that I am allergic to my 2 dogs, and they cause me to get very congested and have breathing problems (mostly while sleeping). What is the best medicine to treat this? I have claritin but it just doesnt seem to be strong enough.

I have 2 dogs (25lbs & 80lbs) 6 cats, and 7 kittens I am finding homes for. They all have fleas, and I am looking for an effective, inexpensive flea treatment for them.
Frontline doesn’t work on my bigger dog, and my cats are allergic to flea collars.

Assuming our abandoned dog gets his first treatment this week, how long until he can safely be around us (my husband, my baby and myself) as well as our dogs without fear of us getting scabies and the dogs getting mange too?

Right now my dogs take Comfortis but it’s just for fleas. We live in the woods and I think it’s important that I put them on something that takes care of both fleas and ticks. I’d perfer it to be a pill but from what I’ve seen so far there isn’t a medicine that is in pill form that takes care of fleas and ticks. Does anyone have any recommendations on the best prevention for both?

I just got a puppy from the pound and he had kennel cough, I took him back and they said that there is no treatment for this. They did give him antibiotics for a possible secondary infection but kennel cough has to run its course much like a humas virus has to. They did say I can use Robitussin DM for the coughing symptoms. The puppy is fine but now my older dog has it, the vet said we have to let it run its course but she looks so miserable. I am giving her robitussin but I want to give her a boost of natural antibiotics that are safve for dogs. I did get some drops from the health food store but they do not have any antibiotic properties.
HELP! Thanks

My female was spayed on 4/26 and today 4/27 she was having a little episode of hot flashes. She was panting like she did when she had her litter of pups 21/2 yrs ago. Do dogs do that?

My dog just started medicine for Pancreatis. Shes really old, and so this medicine is the last hope for her. The doctors told us to try it for two weeks and if it doesnt work we have to put her to sleep. How long does medicine take (usually) to work for dogs? We started her on it last thursday and shes still feeling ill…

Has anyone found ways to manage their chronic fatigue? I can’t seem to get anything done anymore. I’ve tried drinking lots of caffeine to give me a "boost" but I get used to it & it doesn’t help. Oh, and please no lectures on living better, I ride my bike or walk my dogs daily for 5 miles, I eat plenty of vegies and take suppliments.
Has anyone found a schedule they can live with? I try VERY hard not to nap thru the day, but found if I keep that up for a few days I crash the next day or two & sleep all day.
It is soooo frustrating, am tired of either sleeping my life away or too tired to do anything but walk the dogs. Any ideas on how you cope? Thanks!

I saw my neighbor pet my dog yesterday when she was walking down the street. The rumor going around is that she is hiv+ and has aids and I think it is very possible she gave it to my dog. Ive been careful enough to not touch my dog just in case it has aids now, but I really need to take it to the vet. Just wondering how much aids testing costs on dogs.
