I’m thinking of having them all removed because I have these niggling health problems, not one major issue but lots of small, chronic things, such as eczema. Please reply and tell me your experiences. Thank you!
Oh and no, my dentist has never recommended it, he’s not into making money, he’s just old fashioned and doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with having one of the most toxic metals in our mouth, year after year after year.

Can I go to a regular dentist or do I have to go to a dentist that takes all the safety precautions?

I have decided to get my mercury amalgam fillings removed because I do not trust the controversy surrounding them. What is the safest way to get them replaced with composites?Any info appreciated.
In reply to doctor matt there has been controversy and it is still going on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dental_amalgam_controversy
but I appreciate the info.
What precautions will the dentist take to prevent me from inhaling mercury vapour when he/she drills out my filling?

My teeth chipped and my dentist prescribed me steriods to help enable the enamel to grow. I’m feeling an ear infection coming on and I’m scared the steriods will make it the infection worse. I get chronic ear infections so they normally just go away. But I don’t want the steriods to make the infection worse and then have to go to the doctor and get antibiotics. Will they make it worse? What should I do?

Know the law hasn’t been modified yet but I know ridiculously that employers can still fire employees for using medically prescribed medical marijuana. But was wondering if medical professions would suffer consequences for it? I mean after all you would think in a medical profession, doctors, nurses, dentist, etc they would allow medical use, outside of work of course. Has anybody heard anything about this?

are there any dentists in kc who accept medicaid for children and who provide cavity fillings that are NOT mercury. I went to a dentist today who only provides mercury fillings for medicaid patients but my kids cannot have mercury fillings…any ideas?

I have had three root canals over the past 25 years. I now desire to have it removed. But I cannot be seen in the dentist til the end of the week. I need a remedy now! Only hurt in the evening and I am taking Ibuprofen 800, which only works for about two hours.

I went to the dentist and he gave me mercury fillings in some of my teeth. Should I have them removed for resin? Does mercury fillings pose a threat to my health–cancer? Even if not now, but later on in life. Also, how late is it to remove the fillings once they are in?
Thanks!

About a month ago I went to the dentist and they notice from my back teeth that I could have acid reflux. I have been noticing symptoms more this month. When I had a root beer float with a cheeseburger and fries at the mall, I felt like throwing up the rest of the day. But I didn’t. And last week I had McDonalds and didn’t feel so hot. I am trying to cut soda out of my diet. What are some other foods I should cut? Should I see a Doctor too?

I’m sixteen and just got a job as a receptionist at a Dentist’s office and I know I’m not going to get a strightforward and easy answer from digging around the internet so I wondered if anyone here could just give me a clear explanation as to what dental insurance is and how it’s different from medical insurance. Thank you!

I have dental insurance through WellPoint Dental Services. I needed a dental procedure and my dentist filed it and I received an approval/precertification from WellPoint in the mail. It said the insurance would pay 4 of the procedure. I had the procedure 4/25/2007. I paid my dentist in full (that’s how he does it) and have been trying to collect the 4 ever since. I have called the insurance co and am always told it is in process. I have written 2 letters with a copy of the precertification to the address on my card and have had no response. On 7/18/2997, a rep said that it had been misfiled, but it would be sent to claims immediately and that all the necessary info was there. I have received no response to my letters, no check. What should I do now?? That procedure was 00 and I could really use the 4. Thanks for any help!

I had a motorcycle accident 6 years ago which caused my upper front gum to break and bend backward towards my mouth. My two front teeth did not fall off, so the dentist pulled my teeth and gum back to the front and did root canal treatment to both of my upper front teeth. My teeth are supposed to be dead after that with no root canals, but one of them now has turned grayish in color (half of the tooth). I’m thinking of tooth crowning, but I’m worried that it might fall off, since they
were fragile after the accident. What is the best treatment for me?
