I am interested in getting my Master’s in Traditional Chinese medicine but am very wary of job opportunities. It appears to me that many Chinese herbalists are self employed. Self employment is very difficult and I’d rather be hired by an employer of some large health corporation such as Kaiser or UCSF Medical center. So my question is, is it possible to be employed with a Masters in Traditional Chinese Medicine or am I pretty much stuck with private practice or office jobs?
Please if you can tell me something about Chinese medicine Danshen, is it really effective Chinese medicine? I heard it is for cleaning the blood. Has Danshen any precautions or side effects?
Many Thanks
I am a student of the emperor’s long fist style of tai chi chuan, and I am now starting to expand my knowledge of the art. I was wondering if any tai chi practitioners or anyone would happen to know of some introductory books to chi, or Traditional Chinese Medicine?
I meant to ask my teacher, but i forgot and I won’t see him til after easter.
Thanks.
We know that traditional Chinese medicine and drug are quite different
from modern medicine ("western medicine"), so will you turn to a
traditional Chinese doctor for help when you suffer a disease? Will
you buy traditional Chinese drugs which have been approved by FDA?
I believe science, but I have found Chinese medicine really effective sometimes. Not only Chinese & Taiwanese people believe Chinese medicine, but also Japanese and Korean people.
I recently began taking chinese medicine, zhong yao, that a doctor or "specialist" prescribed. I boil these figs and plants in a pot and the outcome is a very dark, almost black, soup that tastes really bitter. I drink it twice a day, after I wake up and 30 minutes before I sleep. It’s supposed to help me grow taller (I’m 17 right now) and my doctor says that theres still a chance for anyone to grow taller as long as they are under the age of 25. I’m also not supposed to consume anything spicy or cold. Is it okay to drink alcohol or smoke pot? Will it change the effects of this medicine?
Thank you.
I have done quite a bit of reading about Chinese medicine and the Soul/Energy/Mind over matter approach, I was wondering, since all ilness is caused by matter and energy imbalances, and matter imbalances are caused by energy imbalances, can’t you fix any kind of healt problem non-invasively with chinese medicine? Are there any good websites that list the alternative treatment methods for different conditions?
I´m going to be in Chiba for one year from september and i was wondering if traditional chinese medicine was cheaper there than it is here (germany). I have neurodermatitis at my hands which is probably caused by an allergy. Here in germany a 3 month therapy would cost around 450 euros. Is traditional chinese medicine in japan maybe cheaper than in germany?

This question is for people who have tried Chinese medicine or know anything about a study on comparing the two.
If you think it’s a weird question and don’t have an answer, you’re cheating to gain 2 points and I could report you.

Why do all Chinese herbs for Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) look alike? They are all brownish-black bb sized balls. Doesn’t seem like you could easily get confused and take the wrong herbs? And its not like all herbs look alike…

What was Chinese medicine like in the earlier centuries? I’m assuming they dealt more with acupuncture and herbal stuff than the Europeans did? I mean, no offense, but the Europeans had pretty atrocious medical practices up until the 18th century or so… Does anyone know enough to be able to make a comparison?
