I’ve been on an antibiotic for a cold for about a week now and i got a yeast infection from it i know its a yeast infection because ive had many before. I’m 28 weeks pregnant i was wondering if there was any OTC yeast infection creams i can use while pregnant? I’ve tried making an Same day appt with my OB doctor but can’t get one till next week and i need something to help me now. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

Less than 2 weeks after receiving a DHPP booster shot, my dog started showing signs of liver problems. Increaded thirst, urination, pale gums, lethargic, elevated bilirubin, loss of appetite, distended abdomen, fever 103.4, etc. She was put on an antibiotic. The color has returned to her gums and she doesn’t have a fever. She is less lethargic and has started eating again. Her abdomen is still very large. She is having an ultrasound and appointment with a IMS Thursday.

I know it’s due to mutations but the mutation can happen to any gene in the bacteria, why does a mutation happen to the gene that gives the bacteria the ability to destroy THIS antibiotic. I mean, the chances are really slim but yet it happens a lot, why?

Thanks in advance, I would really like to know the answer.

Bacteria can become resistant to an antibiotic by acquiring genetic information from another organism or by altering the molecular target recognized by the antibiotic. How could this work?

1 The bacteria obtain new mitochondria from other cells.

2 The antibiotic operon stops making proteins.

3 The bacteria acquire DNA by transformation, which means they have absorbed DNA released from dead bacteria.

4 The bacterial repressor protein blocks the expression of antibiotic genes.

5 The bacteria express a permease that promotes antibiotic influx.

I’ve been taking an antibiotic for a sinus infection, and though I am feeling better, the symptoms are still bugging me. I want to try something else to add to it.

I read that older people have some immunity b/c they were exposed to a similar flu virus a while ago. Will getting the new vaccine prevent me from having this same exposure in the future?
In response to the nurse:
So what is better, to get the vaccine or to be exposed to the virus w/o it? Wondering if it is similar to an antibiotic where overtime they stop working if you take them often… I havent had the seasonal flu in over 10 years and I dont get the vaccine for that.

What is the treatment of Anemia causes by viral infection? Is the infection can still exist even after taken Antibiotic?

Have any specific symptoms to detect whether it has caused by iron deficiency or viral infection?

Medicine is the capsule, pill etc.
Drug is the active ingredient.
Antibiotic is the drug that kills the bacteria.

What is a pharmaceutical then?

She has an eye infection and ear infection. She started taking Augmentin (basically Amoxicillin) on Monday night. She’s had two full days of antibiotics. She is still running a fever (around 101 or 102, breaks and comes back throughout the day.) She is one year old. Does this mean the antibiotic isn’t working? Or is it normal for a fever to linger for a few days after antibiotics are introduced?

I always wondered this. For example, if a person is allergic to penicillin and they take a medicine that is penicillin based, will the antibiotic still kill off the infection (though there may be a reaction)? Obviously, it’s not a wise thing to do, but if a a drug causes an allergic reaction will it also render it useless for its original purpose? Thank you!

My doctor prescribed antibiotics for fever. Blood or other tests were not performed, so this could have been viral fever. I am concerned about taking antibiotics, as the body(bacteria) may become immune to the antibiotic in the long run. Should I take antibiotics? How much is considered to be overdose and may develop immunity in the body?

My 9 year old son has been running a fever for almost 4 days now. He’s been on antibiotic for 3 full days but still has temperature unless I give him a fever reducer. They say that you shouldn’t give a fever reducer unless the temperature reaches above 102 (he’s been getting 101 and 102). I am getting more and more concerned that the antibiotic is not working and it may be something more serious. It’s been 72 hours and to my experiece, antibiotics usually take effect after 42 hours, tops, where there is no fever. Does anyone know how long a fever can go on for and if I should be concerned and take him in for another visit?
