Why is it that people are so scared to go for a HIV/AIDS test?

I don’t have any symptoms and I truly doubt I have anything. If you had unprotected sex, how long after it should you be tested for HIV/AIDS? I know that if you do it too soon after that they wouldn’t be able to detect it.

My brother was shown a partner notification letter that his girlfriend of less than a year could have HIV/AIDS. Plus a letter showing her appointment for an HIV/AIDS test. I told him to dump her. She has lied and had 2 sex partners besides him but he doesn’t believe it. She said that the letters are a lie. What can I do or say to make him believe it. Two letters would make me believe something is going on what about the rest of you. Give me your feelings.

I am afraid I have aids because of mistakes I have made in my life but I dont want my mom to know and she is getting my blood typed….can they find out from that test?

I want tips for persuading my father who is 81 years old to get his hearing tested. He just shuts down when we bring up the subject.I want to hear what other people with older parents have done or said to encourage their parents to get their hearing checked and wear hearing aids if needed. Thanks.

My cousin says that the whites brought over AIDs in Africa in a test tube to kill them off and that’s how they got AIDs in the first place. Has anyone else ever heard this story?

I have a friend,who says she cannot possibly have aids because she has to take a blood test every month because she has so many allergies.If she has aids,she could have just infected 2 of my friends,and maybe a third through blood transfer.She says she doesn’t,but she hasn’t been tested,and i want to look out for my friends.So can you tell if you have aids or not through allergy tests?

How long do you have to wait after having sex before you can get your blood tested for aids/HIV? i know that symptoms take 6-10 years to naturally show up, but how many months/years does it take for it to show up in your blood? its been two months and i want to get tested… help? points 4 best answer, thanks.

Are they discharged? I know they test you for AIDS before you are allowed into the service, and if you do have AIDS you are disqualified from joining. What happens about those people who are in the military and get it after they are in the service? Do they expect their service men and women to ask their partners to get a blood test for AIDS before every deed or what?

If you find out someone you’ve been Intimate with has been with someone else who has aids, how long does it take to find out if you have it? How soon can a person get tested for HIV/AIDS after having unprotected sex with an infected partner?

To put it another way: When does HIV finally show up in testing?

now there are commercials about Herpes medication and Syphilis testing…That has actually helped the taboo of STD’s decrease. However, all the media talks about is AIDS testing. Do you think they will ever reach a point of advertising like that of diabetes and cancer (surviver advertisements, celebrity advocates living with it, medication commercials, etc)

I believe that will help soften the stigma of the disease…What are your opinions?
