Is there any home remedies to help a infant cough especially at night?
My daughter is only 14 months old and she has a terrible cough it obviously gets worse at night time, as most coughing does, and she cannot sleep because everytime she coughs it wakes her up, I know its hurting her when she coughs because she is not able to go back to sleep right away. She has a doctors appointment with her pediatrician tomorrow, but until then, is there anyone who knows of any home remedies that would be able to help my ill baby girl?

keep her elevated !!! thats hugly important because she could get pnomonia with mucas going to her lungs..
and even though shes 14 months, a nose sucker for babies works well, try give her a warm bath at night… The doctor got me to sit in the bathroom with her while we ran a HOT shower and we sat and played on the floor for 15 minutes… good luck.. My 16 mth girl just got over a bad cold too
yes,my childrens doctors have always told me that they get like this at night when they are laying down sleeping because the mucus all goes to the back of the throat and causes the tickling,,so he suggested that i elevate her head when she slept,,,so i put a few firm pillows under her fitted sheet on her crib so that it was safe that she wouldn’t suffocate on them but so it would elevate her head,,it kept it all from settling in the back of her throat and she was able to sleep relatively well….
I used mentholatum, but I didn’t put it directly on the skin, just very lightly on thier onsie. It works great for coughs. They do make mentholatum for infants that has lavendar as well and you can put it directly on thier chest.
I’m all for a very strict sleep routine. It is important to have one that suits you and your child and then stick with the program. I am also in favor of ending naps at an early age even at the expense of some crankiness. Being tired is the best solution to sleeping.
But if your child really does have a cough hot water and honey is usually a good short term cure so they can get back to sleep.
