The symptoms of thyroid disease and menopause are almost the same. What you need to look out for are additional symptoms so that you can tell the difference between the two health conditions.

Aside from hot flashes, thyroid problem symptoms include pain in the neck and swelling of arms and legs. Visual disturbances and extreme fluctuation of weight are also signs of a thyroid problem.

If you are suffering from night sweats and vaginal dryness, you are most likely to be suffering from menopausal symptoms.

I've been visiting this site to learn more about hot flashes. http://www.hotflashfreedom.com/

Since you are taking Synthroid, I assume you are hypo. I am hypo taking Levoxyl ( they are all the same stuff) and hot flashes is definately not a symptom for me. As far as temp, you will usually see an intolerance for cold as a symptom. As far as I know, hot flashes are not a symptom of hypothyroidism.

When you say you are "over the menopause thing", how are you qualifying this. Menopause takes years and though you may not have your periods or have night sweats, that does not mean the process is all over. For some women it can take nearly a decade. I am on Synthroid and experience no hot flashes. It is not a traditional hypo part. My best guess, you still are feeling residual menopause like symptoms.
