Your body doesn’t need ‘cleaning out’. We are not full of toxins, it’s a myth.
Eat a sensible diet and your body will look after itself.
We have skin, lungs, liver and kidneys doing the job and the colon is self cleansing.
The ‘cleaning out’ routines do more harm than good.
If you must do it water is far better than some of the dubious concoctions online that result in diarrhoea, electrolyte imbalance and a damaged gut.
In my experience fasting on water is a very powerful practice, especially if you do it over the course of several days or weeks. Fasting does help the body to restore and repair itself. However, it can also cause detox reactions such as headaches, fatigue and aches and pains. I recommend juice fasting and or detoxing with herbs over water fasting for most people.
Fasting really is a powerful way to cleanse and repair your body. All that energy we normally use to digest food gets reinvested in the body. There’s enormous potential for repairing and healing at this time. If you do a water fast, you probably shouldn’t go for longer than 3 days your first time. If you do make sure someone knows what you’re doing and can help if you experience any problems. I’m not a big fan of using fasting as a weight loss method. There are better ways. If you don’t learn to eat sensibly you’ll gain the weight back no matter what.
