Usually it will tell you on the box and/or container, but I wait three days before I give my dog a bath after her flea & tick ointment has been applyed
Check the product label some are waterproof. The information that came with the treatment should tell you otherwise the vets office should know
should wait at least 24 hrs. If you check the package I am sure it says it on it.
Frontline is 48 hours. READ THE PACKAGING!!!
It is normally applied AFTER you give the dog a bath, but if you put it on first you need to wait at least 48 hours.
Most of the topical flea/tick medicines work with the oil on a dog’s skin and they should not have a bath for 3 days before or 3 days after an application.
I would give your dog a bath before you apply the medicine. Here is another thing that will help with the flea and especially ticks. Try not to walk him around high grass areas in your neighborhood. Avoid high weeded bushy areas. That is where they hang out in tall weeds with bushes. Also, I was told to put garlic powder as a seasoning in their dog food. Ticks hate garlic or garlic powder. They sense it in their pores when we can’t. They are more sensative to sense of smell and taste. Use 2 table spoonfuls to season his dog food with that every meal time, you will notice a decrease on ticks. Eventaully no ticks. There are shampoos that you can use for tick problems. If your read the ingrediants you will notice garlic is an ingrediant too. As for the fleas/tick medicine definately give him a bath before you apply it as it will wash away. Before the next dose of medicine you can give him a bath. It’s icky stuff, but after a month of it you won’t have anymore problems. I hope I helped.
It sounds like you are describing Frontline. You should not bathe the dog 2 days before or 2 days after the application.
Usually the product tells you how long to wait. Mines 12 hrs I think.
