There is a new development in migraine therapy:
http://www.neurologyreviews.com/feb04/nr_feb04_foramen.html
but it might have to wait until after the delivery.
She can take tylenol… even extra strength tylenol. I had them with my first pregnancy and that is what they said I could take.
she should talk to her dr.
but when i was pregnant if i didnt have cafeen EVERYDAY i would have the worst headache..
if she is 13 weeks she should have already been to the doctor and they gave her a list of medications she can take while pregnant, such as tylenol for headaches. if she wants to continue to be ignorant let her.
is she sure they are migraines………..she MUST see her doc and get their blood pressure checked and regardless of what is said on here you need to check with HER doc what she can and can not take………..
Did she always get migraines before being pregnant? IF not then even more urgent that she sees / calls her doc asap.
Regards and Good luck
before I was pregnant I was on prescribed medication for my migraines……while I was pregnant I was not able to take that medication……my doctor prescribed tylenol with codine…….I would tell her to talk to her doctor……….or she could just take tylenol…….I hope this helps!
she can take Tylenol or Accetimetiphin and that’s it anything else can hurt the baby
tell her to talk to her ob about it as there are several things that can cause this
such as inaddiquate nutricion or dehydration
or even just morning sickness
she needs to go to her doctor and tell them. they will prescribe medication if she should have meds. try tying something around her forehead. like a hanker-chief or a doo-rag thingy. the pressure on the head/brain sometimes helps.
my doc told me to take two Tylenol and put a warm rag on my for head i also get a neck massage from my man but stay away from the feet and hands when you do a massage and do not take any thing else but Tylenol go to the doc if it persist i still get them every day sometimes for days at a time just rest and relax.good luck and good health to you and your baby and congrats to you both
Sorry to hear this. I know how horrible it is because I too suffer from migraines and I am 9 weeks pregnant. Did she cut out caffeine all together? I know with me that triggers them. My doctor said I could have 2 cups of coffee (or pop) every day. I wanted to hug him because I cut out caffeine all together. I have one cup of coffee in the morning and this helps me. I was prescribed Tylenol 3 for when I get them bad to help ease the pain. I suggest asking your doctor his/her opinions. HUGS to your girlfriend- it’s awful!!
Did she cut something out of her diet? When I first became pregnant I cut out caffeine and got headaches everyday. Then when I realized some caffeine was ok I started having 1 caffeinated drink a day. I also tried to be good and only take tylenol but that doesn’t do anything on a migrane. I spoke to the NP about it and she said that if that doesn’t work then just take a lower dosage of what does (in my case, IB profen). Instead of taking 2, I take 1 and only one. Hopefully her headaches will end soon!! Good luck and congratulations!!
I was told that you can take tylenol. I’m pregnant right now and the doctor told me I could take it for my migraines.
When I was around the beginning of my 2nd trimester I got migraines all the time, I drink a little bit of caffine (your not supposed to just stop dead cold it will cause caffine withdrawls resulting in a migraine) and take one tablet of tylenol. It’s the only thing safe to take. They say to avoid asprin, ibpro., and anything like that.
don’t take meds!!
it’s not worth the side effects that could bother you child for the rest of their lives…
eating 5 dark bing cherries have the same effect as taking 1 ibprofin… i heard about it from a natural food store and it really works when i have terrible cramps during my period!! if she doesn’t like cherries they do sell dark cherry concentrate pills at gnc and other health food supplement stores
another thing that’s amazing for migraines is massage… you can get a half hour massage that just focuses on your upper body (head neck and shoulders) for around $30 in most areas… and it’s so worth it … just make sure to tell the massage therapist that you’re having migrains and you want to get rid of it… most L.M.T.’s are used to working with headaches and will know how to deal with them…
a chiropracter is another option… although i don’t have experience with how well they work… and they’re a bit more expensive than just hitting up the massage therapist…
good luck!
Try head on I’m 17 weeks preg. I used to take RX med. for migraines most of which you can not take because it restricts blood flow to the uterus. But head on worked also I would lay down with an ice pack over the side that the migraine was on. I have had a few very early miscarriages so I prefer not to take any medications unless I absolutely need to. Also with my 1st pregnancy after 14 weeks I did not have migraines for the rest of the preg. and this time I get them still but not as frequent as before. So they will either get less frequent or may not have any after a while. Good luck your a sweet boyfriend for trying to help.
