decreased libido due to depo provera shot?

Has anyone else experienced this? My doctor said that it is a very rare side effect but i have heard of this happening to many others. Does anyone have any ideas or remedies to improve my libido?

Any hormones with estrogen and progesterone have the chance of doing this because they block the receptors that cause arousal from being targeted as frequently. It only happens in about 10% of women, but it definitely happened to me.
i was on depo for 8 years and it was the worst 8 years of my life. not only will your libido diminish to NOTHING, chances are you will put on weight. im not talking 5 lbs either, more like 10 or more a year. i tried everything to get my drive back and nothing worked (exept for not getting the shot). i decided that the side effects of depo werent worth it and chose another method. i was on the shot from age 17 to 25-an age were i shouldnt have had any issues with drive. good luck, depo is very convenient but has a host of side effects.
it is "rare" but totally unheard of, when you add any hormone to your body there is a chance it will throw you off in some way or another. Most of the time it will get better with time.
I just started taking the pill about a month ago, and the same thing happened to me for the first few weeks. I was really worried it would last forever! But now I’m back to normal, so I think the best advice I have is to wait it out, and if it doesn’t come back, talk to your doctor and maybe switch to a different form of birth control that won’t do that to you.

I am currently having the decreased libido problem from the depo shot… i am looking for a solution cause the shot is the cheepest and most effective form of birth control for me. I am going to try Provestra, it is very similar to Hersolution. Im gonna try it and hope it helps.
