I’ve been taking ducolax pills for my constipation about 3-4 times a week. I’ve become immune to them now from taking them too much and they don’t work for me anymore. I’ve tried to cure it naturally but after 2weeks it still didn’t work and my constipation got worse. Should I used a different pill such as citrucel? What else can I do to cure my constipation?

I’ve been having really bad constipation since the beginning of the pregnancy (now 12 wks). I’m eating high fiber food, drinking a lot of water, and taking Metamucil twice a day per doctor’s instruction. It’s better, but still painful. What else can I do?

I don’t mean as a maintenance tool, altho that is desirable info. Right now I mean for immediate relief for constipation. It’s not for a baby. It’s for me as a 52 yr old adult. If it matters my weight is 119 lbs. I realize my question will elicit some giggles (who can help it) but if anyone has real info I’d like to hear! The constipation is due to daily meds so that’s where any maintence info would come in.

I am 11 weeks pregnant and last night for about 10 minutes or so my stomach was cramping rather badly. I went to the restoom, and it was obvious that I was constipated. Can constipation cramps hurt that bad? Would it be a good idea to contact my doctor? I don’t have any bleeding.

I have had a spot in my back that has been staying numb for about a year or so. The neuro seems to think it is a sciatic nerve problem. Anyway I normally have no problem when it comes to using the restroom, but for about six months it has been terrible, and I would like to know if this could be the cause of constipation.

I was on the depo shot for 3 years. I kept missing my dates, so I stop getting them for about 8 months. I started again in May/2008. As of today, I still haven’t had my period. I’ve had bad gas and constipation as well as abdominal pain for almost 2 weeks. I think I may be pregnant.

My 85 year old father has a great deal of difficulty with constipation. He has tried both over the counter and prescription medications in all sorts of dosages and combinations with little to no relief. If anyone knows of any fruit shakes or any other home remedies I would greatly appreciate your comments.

I’ve got a really bad case of constipation. My friend Tim told me that if I mix pseudoephedrine with salt, muriatic acid and acetone in plastic bottle and shake it up and then ingest it it will (in his words), "loosen up my butthole". Is this true? I’ve tried regular OTC medications and other home remidies and nothing has helped!

I was at the doctor for really bad pains which just ended up being severe constipation. Well, now it’s been 4 almost 5 days since I’ve passed a bowl movement. I got a prescription that is like Metamucil (sp?) but stronger and it’s not helping. I’ve also been changing my diet to add in more water and more fiber. How much longer should I wait to go back into the doctor?

I am 23 years old and I have suffered from IBS with constipation my entire life. My doctor keeps telling me to eat more fiber, but I already eat several servings each of fruits and veggies and whole grains every day. I drink more than 10 glasses of water per day. I avoid refined flour and sugar. I don’t eat meat and recently I gave up dairy. Magnesium doesn’t help and neither does Psyllium Husk. I have never used laxatives and don’t want to. Please help! I’m miserable.

I am 23 years old and since I got pregnant with my daughter I have had constipation and started gain weight, I did what the doctor said and it hasn’t helped, so recently I bouhg the OTC Miralax does this stuff really work and what else can I do to help with the constipation?

I read on a IBS document the other day that bananas should be avoided as they cause constipation? I eat atleast one banana a day and I was wondering if I should quit eating them (one of my favorite fruits). I have chronic constipation.
