Can one contact fibromyalgia if one has been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis?

For the past several weeks I have had pain in my muscles as well as my joints. I take 10mg of prednisone daily and methotrexate injections once a week for the rheumatoid. For the first time ever, I have had pain in the area of my clavicles today.

One can have Fibromyalgia alone or with any other illness one can be diagnosed with.
I’m not sure what you mean by "contact fibromyalgia…" or if you meant "contract fibromyalgia…" Either way, it doesn’t really matter. There seems to be as many theories as to what causes fibro as there are symptoms.
I don’t think it is that uncommon to have fibromyalgia along with another illness like RA or Parkinson’s ect.
If you are asking is it likely that you have fibro, then, possibly, but, if it is only pain that you are noticing then, you may really only have RA. If you have severe fatigue (and I do mean severe, not just tired because you have not been to bed before 2am three nights running), short term memory loss, irritable bowel syndrome, insomnia, then fibro MIGHT be a possibility, it is a diagnosis of exclusion, rather than a blood test. If you are concerned, ask you rheumatologist, but do not feed the diagnosis to him by mentioning fibro or chronic fatigue, if he is really into treating fibro patients, then that is the diagnosis that you will get, regardless if it is accurate or not.
You definately can have Fibromyalagia with any other disease-INCLUDING ARTHRITIS-
saying you can’t get both is like saying you can’t have diabetes and thyroid problems at the same time.
I do believe that FMS is highly overdiagnosed in patients with other conditions such as arthritis-it takes the TOP fibro docs to tell the difference-
most docsa ren’t even competant to diagnose FMS in peopel without any other similar conditions.
BTW_FMS is something you develop (like diabetes, heart disease) you don’t contract it like a cold.
