I’m a bicycle rider in the Summer and a spinner (on a stationary bike)in the Winter. I’m 65 and recently had a prostate biopsy because of a PSA spike. I researched the same question you asked, and could not find any evidence that bike riding is a contributing factor to Prostate Cancer (PCa). However, I did find some info that indicated it was best to avoid biking for a week or so prior to a PSA test because it may cause an increase in the test result that could be misinterpreted. It was also suggested that one avoid sex the prior week, as well (all too easy to do, unfortunately), and that the doctor do the Digital Rectal Exam (DRE) after the blood draw for the PSA test, not before. Apparently, any ‘massaging’ of the gland could cause a (false) higher reading.
My biopsy was negative and I’m thankful for that, but…that only means that none of the ‘cores’ encountered any PCa cells, not that there may not be some there that was missed. So, I’m going to have another PSA test in a few months and then see where we go from there.
Good luck to you!
